Know Before You Go:

  • A great afternoon hike along the Icefields Parkway that offers perfect views of Athabasca Glacier from above and the surrounding mountains.

  • Keep an eye out for Big Horn Sheep.

  • Bring layers, it can get quite windy at the top.

  • The lot is small but turn over is fairly quick.

  • Pair this with the Parker Ridge Trail just down the road for a spectacular day of hiking.

  • This trail is best done in the summer and fall but can be down in winter when weather permits if you're up for a climb in snowshoes.

  • If you’d like to extend this hike you can walk the entire pass making the trip a point to point walk, finishing at the Tangle Creek Falls parking lot on the other side - you can either stage a second vehicle to return to your start point or walk back. This option makes the trail about 7 miles one direction or 14 round trip.
