Know Before You Go:

  • A photographer's paradise, this spot is a favorite place to catch a sunset!

  • Be careful on the short trek (2-3 min) down to the cliffs - the rocks may be slippery.

  • Don't cliff jump into the water as the waves here are very strong.

  • This area is unique because you can identify the various layers of lava flow that have formed over time. Additionally, the lava rock is not a normal black but a green-ish color caused by the mineral, olivine.

  • Because this spot lies just outside the preserve’s official boundaries, there is no fee to park here.
