Know Before You Go:

  • Purchase your pass/day-use fee ahead of time.

  • Expect weekend crowds - this is a popular backpacking trail since no advanced reservation is needed to camp and it offers sweeping 360 views.

  • To reach Buckhorn Peak, follow the trail to the right upon reaching Marmot Pass instead of following AllTrails to the left.

  • If you choose to camp beyond this point, be aware there are no water sources and very little shade or protection from the wind.

  • Surrounding views feature Dungeness Valley, the Olympic Range interior to the west and even Mount Baker to the north on a clear day.

  • By the end of June, this trail should be mostly snow-free.
