Expect weekend crowds - this is a popular backpacking trail since no advanced reservation is needed to camp and it offers sweeping 360 views.
To reach Buckhorn Peak, follow the trail to the right upon reaching Marmot Pass instead of following AllTrails to the left.
If you choose to camp beyond this point, be aware there are no water sources and very little shade or protection from the wind.
Surrounding views feature Dungeness Valley, the Olympic Range interior to the west and even Mount Baker to the north on a clear day.
By the end of June, this trail should be mostly snow-free.
