Know Before You Go:

  • This hike is a leg burner but the views from the top are absolutely worth the intense effort to get here.

  • One of only a few opportunities to see Lake Diablo from above as well as Ross Lake.

  • The lookout point offers 360 mountain views as far as the eye can see.

  • Incredible wildflower displays appear once you reach the higher, more exposed portions of the trail.

  • The route is extremely well defined and easy to follow.

  • Poles may be helpful since the trail grade is steep most of the way - and be sure to wear boots with good traction.

  • You can find snow patches here fairly late into the season so micro spikes may also come in handy.

  • Bring many layers and rain gear just in case, the weather conditions can change very quickly at the top.

  • Camping is only allowed at the designated campsite along the trail and requires a pre-reserved permit which you can get at recreation.gov.

  • Dogs are not allowed.
